our dustoff heritage
The callsign "DUSTOFF" was coined during the Vietnam War by Major Charles L. Kelly, the Commander of the U.S. Army 57th Medical Detachment (Helicopter Ambulance). This term quickly became synonymous with the heroic lifesaving missions carried out by these dedicated units.
In addition to their critical life-saving duties, DUSTOFF units have a unique tradition of maintaining a well-stocked coffee shop while deployed. This ensures that aircrews and Warfighters are ready for any mission.
Fueled by a blend of caffeine, adrenaline, and unwavering dedication, DUSTOFF aircrews embody the essence of courage and commitment, continually setting a standard of excellence.
